About Jessica

“My teaching journey started with a part time with receptionist position at a Houston yoga studio. In 2016, 8 months postpartum, bored out of my gourd and hungry for something I couldn’t put my finger on, I started working part time again at a yoga, barre and Pilates studio. Growing up, I was always in a sport like cheerleading, gymnastics or dance and I’ve always had a hard time keeping still; being in a movement environment for the first time in years sounded like a dream. One of the employee perks was free classes, so I started moving my body again and found release and healing I didn’t even know I needed. I found myself crying and laughing and everything in between during my time on the mat and at the barre and quickly realized that this was something I had to do professionally. I felt like I’d found the cure and I had to share it. I was blessed with my first barre certification through Tracey Mallett Fitness and within a month of that cert I was timidly but so happily working with students. Since 2016, I’ve gotten a different group fitness certification in various barre formats, TRX suspension training and finally my personal training certificate in 2020.

Over six years of teaching, my body and I have gone from enemies to friends to lovers to soulmates. Restorative movement and gentle strength training have carried me through chronic illness and pain, loss and earth shaking changes in life. In 2021, I made the decision to leave my customer service position and dive in to teaching full time. The urge and drive to be an example to my daughters and to leave my little pocket of the planet better than when I arrived completely took over and overrode any fears about finances or failure. I believe moving with integrity and intuition through life is a fail safe way to pursue your intentions. This first year of solely teaching has affirmed that belief, and empowers me to operate with my students with honesty and gentleness. I believe work doesn’t have to feel like work and that even the most mundane daily activities of life can feel artful when we devote real energy and love to them. During your time with me, I look forward to finding movement and breath that says “I Love You” to your body and spirit.”

Off the Mat

During my free time, I am hopelessly devoted to my family and obsessed with my oh so incredibly talented partner. After moving here from Houston in 2016, I discovered something I never knew about myself: I love live music. On weekends you can find me at local venues like Billy’s or Villa at Gruene oogling over my husband while he plays or taking in the live scene with him. We also love cooking, being on the water, cat cuddles from our two fur children Dani and Willow, traveling when we can and sometimes even getting in some movement together when I’m not teaching.
