About Amy

“I began practicing yoga in 2011. The first class I ever took was a gentle Hatha class. I was struggling with anorexia and bulimia at the time and the class was offered to me as part of therapy for my mental health. From that first Hatha class I was set on a trajectory to healing and self-discovery with many twists and turns. At the time, Yoga helped me to get out of the crowded mind and into the body. It created space for me to feel free in my body, even for just a moment. It gave me a taste of reprieve from the pain I was in. Every time I stepped onto the mat; I was putting energy into the healing in a very tangible way through movement.

Over the past 10 years, my practice has taken many forms and shapes. I have immersed myself in western esotericism with much of my practice and studies being rooted in Judeo-Christian mysticism. The blending of eastern and western traditions informs and inspires the way I practice and teach! The practice and exploration of all Yoga has been an anchor to health, gratitude, and awareness since first stepping on a mat. This journey has been a continuous unfolding of my relationship with self, what I conceptualize as self, and of the many layers of what it means to be made manifest as a human being. Yoga has taught me many things, but the greatest lesson has been that this is All a practice to be revered. Life is a practice. Life is a ceremony. The simple yet profound nature of this lesson reminds me that it takes grace to be a learner and that we’re all just experimenting.

I began teacher training in 2015 after a serious car accident that left me unable to walk for two months. Teacher training was extremely humbling for me on many levels. I had always been able-bodied, flexible, and athletic. Not having my full physical capacity helped me to slow down, learn how to properly modify, amplified my reverence for the body, and gave me perspective on how to build a different kind of Yoga practice. Since receiving my 300-hour Hatha Therapy training, I have been refining my practice, craft, and style of teaching.

I love all kinds of movement, but I am especially passionate about strength building and training. There have been many points in my life that I have felt weak and deeply lost, that’s why I am so passionate about developing strength and helping others do the same. There is something so empowering about experiencing the tangible growth of muscle and feeling the ineffable force of mental fortitude! For me, it’s where the body and mind meet! In addition to teaching yoga, I am a personal trainer and am pursuing a career as a dietician.”

Off the Mat

When I am not on my mat creating flows, you can find me swinging kettlebells, lifting heavy things, generally sweating for a good time, being in nature, and cooking nutrient-dense food! I am grateful to be here, to share, and to learn! I’ll see you on the mat!
